Bison Basketball Team Focusing on Finishing Strong
The 2009-2010 Central City Boys Basketball Team has started this Winter in a positive way. The team features many talented players that contribute to the success on the basketball court. Each and every player competes at their full potential and it has shown by their record of 5-2 through 7 games. Leading the Bison in scoring through 7 games is senior Ben Clausen, managing an average of 23.1 points a game. 6'3" senior Garrett Hanquist leads the team in rebounds with 7.86 per game while fellow senior Jon Carroll leads the team in assists. Head Coach Justin Anderson has this to say, "The nice thing about this years senior bunch is that you know they are going to give their best effort on the court."
Since the Heartland Holiday Tournament, the team has faced adversity and has taken some tough losses. Including the most recent game in which York hit a game-winning shot at the buzzer to defeat the Bison and eliminate Central City from Central Conference Play. The Bison currently stand at 5-9 and have another shot at York Tuesday, February 2nd in Central City. Junior Varsity boys start at 4:30 and the Varsity conclude the evening at 7:45. There is no doubt that this impressive squad will continue their hard work throughout the season. Photos courtesy of Bob Jensen.
