DECA Fall Leadership 2015
by Sable Campa
On Tuesday, October 6th Kiley Bamesberger of Central City attended the annual Fall Leadership Conference through DECA. Kiley arrived in Omaha that morning at 8:00 a.m., and shortly after she arrived, her busy day began. They started off by dividing into groups to go speak with numerous colleges and other exhibitors. After, they had a keynote speaker and a presentation about muscular dystrophy, which included a parent and a patient that were dealing with the disease on a personal level. DECA is a large supporter of muscular dystrophy, so raising awareness of the disease is a primary goal every day. When the breakout sessions arrived, the participants at FLC had the opportunity to choose their activities for the rest of the day. The sessions that Kiley chose that day were a social media session, DECA competition preparation, what to ask in an interview, and proper business attire. Overall, Kiley said her experience was great. "I loved it! I made a lot of good friends and learned a lot of new information about DECA, like all of the volunteer opportunities there are and how to compete!" Kiley looks forward to competing this year and learning more about DECA.
