Busy Month for Central City DECA
by Kortney Hamer
On Tuesday, March 12th, seven members of Central City High School’s DECA Chapter met with seven community members to have a “Mock Interview Night”. There were two rounds of interviews, each lasting 30 minutes. These interviews were a great way to prepare the students for what a real interview might be like. Katie Heins, one of the participating DECA members, said “I enjoyed the interviews. They were a fun experience in helping me prepare for future interviews.” The DECA members would like to thank the interviewers for making the night a fun and enjoyable learning experience.
State DECA was held on March 14-16 in Lincoln. Two students from Central City High School competed. Brady Sheets competed in Quick Service Restaurant Management, and Austin Spiegel competed in Accounting Applications. They both completed role plays as well as a timed exam relating to their events. Brady placed third on his first role play and second overall in his event, earning him the opportunity to compete at the International Career Development DECA Conference in Orlando, Florida in late April. We congratulate him and wish him luck on this amazing opportunity he has earned!
